Soooooo.... I had cholera!

 Yes, you read that right?

I swear the image of someone who'd contact cholera was very different in my mind until 5 days ago when the Lab results came positive for Cholera aaaaand H-pylori. I mean.... Like come on?

So, I did have a rough end of the week this last week that lead to my admission at Coptic Hospital. Never self medicate BTW! I almost lost myself to self medication with over-the-counter drugs.

I made a mistake and ate food from the vendors who supply to our office more than once last week. If you know me, you know how much I love to cook but last week we got do busy, so it was easier to eat from caterers.

I went to check out the venue for my upcoming event, it's big, so I needed to meet the planning team and agree on the floorplan on Tuesday. That night once I was home, I was so weak and I could tell I had a fever I took some pain medz and slept and woke up the next day early for work. It was until Wednesday afternoon after an amazing partner meeting that I started to feel week, drowsy , and cold but it was very hit so it didn't make sense. I went to work for a meeting but I couldn't stay longer and had to go back home.

I couldn't eat as I started having stomach pains that was soon followed with diarrhea. I took some Imodium but In an hour I still had another loo session and another, and another and I kept getting weak.  I finished the Imodium pills and sent for some antibiotics coz I knew things were definitely wrong. I took one pill and called it a night but I got worse that at 1am on Thursday morning I took myself to a nearby hospital.

The struggle was real! But, I got there! My lab results came out after an hour and the writing was very clear.

Cholera - Positive

H-pylori - Positive

How? These two at once. Wait? Me? Cholera? Like WTF? I wasn't lucky. This explained why I could feel my life fading away that night as I struggled to get to the hospital.

I held the results in disbelief! The doctor then mentioned that there's a Cholera outbreak in Nairobi. I was put on some IV for about 5 hours. Once I responded to the medication I asked the Doctor of I could go home and continue with the medication at home.

Over the weekend, all I did was keep to myself and take care of myself. On Saturday night, I danced so much to my favorite jams. I was so grateful for my health and as I said my thanks to God that night and on Monday morning, I promised to take care of myself. My fridge is very pleased at all the healthy ingredients I've invested in.

Grateful for life. Grateful for family. Grateful to God.
