Dads rock the World....
Yeah!! Yeah!! We have always fought for the girl child, and women. This time I want all of us to 'hats off' for the best men in the world, the Dads. Without them, we will have definitely been non-existent.
So, the last 3 weeks have been crazy for our family. My dad decided to go for an extensive body check up at The Karen Hospital, after a pro-longed body weakness and chest pains. Of course, my mum had him really pushed before he freely boarded that flight from Lodwar to Nairobi.
Once again, I repeat, he freely came to Nairobi, which means he got himself to Nairobi and to The Karen Hospital, that Friday, the 4th of January, 2013. After an hour or two of serious check-up with the doctors, he was given the most surprising news, he suffered Pneumonia.
My dad, is diabetic, yeah, so his blood sugar levels were pretty high by the time he got to the hospital, but, he is one man who will always give a serious situation, a pretty lovely face. Due to the 2 illnesses, he had to be admitted.
On Saturday, dad was up and about the hospital and he seemed pretty bright with the many visitors who came in and out, we were sure he will be checked out on Monday if his sugar levels were stabilized by then. On Sunday, he was a bit low, though he could still talk and chat, you could see him struggle to keep that smile on his face, we all assumed he was tired and even the doctors say, we should give him more time to rest.
The doom's day was Monday. My dad was injected some medicine before he went for a CT scan. That injection, no, that dreaded injection led my dad in the ICU in the next hour. He had developed High Blood Pressure as a result of the injection.
Everything stopped with dad in this condition, my mum who has always been a strong Woman drove week. It was my first day of Orientation as a post-graduate student at Daystar, but all that will wait until dad opens an eye and say 'It is going to be well guys'. We prayed, called our friends to pray, we frequented the Chappel. Any way to tell God to remember all the great things dad has alwas done to His people and how Faithful he has been to Him.
It might have been 7 hours until dad opened his eyes and mouth and could at least prove it was all well but, to us it was a million years. Even the clouds gave way to the sun, as soon as he opened his eyes, the storm was over but we had to wait until after 3 days for him to resume his ward, and 4 days to check out of the hospital. We cannot stop saying how Great God has been to us.
My dad has always been my mentor and reason behind my achievements besides hard work. This event has made me see how a dad is more than just that in a family. Dads hold the family together, they represent discipline, they are the sense of respect, most are the bread winners. They actually support the mothers to their children and make sure none of the children takes the mum for granted.
Without them we half orphans, without them some families lack income, kids leave school or seek to the streets. I might not have enough words to explain the importance of not just a man but a dad in the family, but in the end we all know we need them and that they have impacted some good percentage in our lives. It is unfortunate that some men do not realise the true meaning of becoming a dad.
When you are a true dad, you will forever be loved and appreciated. I love and adore my dad, BIG TIME!!!!
